About The Position

The Direct Support Professional supports adults with developmental disabilities in a community-based day program. The role provides recreation and life skills training while promoting independence, active community engagement, and collaboration with the team. The position is based in Williamsville, Amherst, or East Amherst, New York, and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for 40 hours per week. Pay is $23.52 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of professional experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Valid New York State driver’s license.
• Agency approval of driving record according to agency policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Day habilitation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow behavior management programs established for individuals.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation about services provided and individuals’ progress.
• Communicate individuals’ needs to the Family Support Services Family Support Coordinator.
• Work flexible hours on occasion to accommodate recreational outings and activities.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training programs.
• Comply with agency incident reporting policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of individual information in accordance with New York State Mental Hygiene law and the agency’s HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures.
• Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
