This is a crisis group home which is a short-term, highly supportive residential setting designed for adults experiencing an emotional, behavioral, or mental health crisis. The goal is stabilization—not long-term placement—so the person can return home or move to a more appropriate setting once the individual has stabilized and a plan is in place. The individuals we support in this setting are often highly behavioral, may be violent at times, display verbal aggression, and may elope. It is imperative that employees follow training, policies, and care plans to support individuals with these unique needs. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and physical disabilities. DSPs provide the support, encouragement, and guidance individuals need to live fulfilling lives, build independence, and participate in their communities.
