About The Position

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide assistance and strategies to individuals in community settings to help them live as independently as possible. Working closely with clinical staff, DSPs support therapeutic and behavioral plans, including transportation for outings, medical appointments, and shopping. They also assist with daily living skills such as meal preparation and medication administration, and provide guidance on developmental goals like community participation, budgeting, exercise, nutrition, and vocational responsibilities. Additionally, DSPs support individuals with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, and toileting, and help redirect agitated or aggressive behaviors.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license in good standing
• Access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance
• Successful clearance of background checks
• A reliable, responsible attitude
• A compassionate approach and a commitment to quality

Nice To Haves

• Six months of experience in human services preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation and support for outings, medical appointments, and shopping.
• Assist with daily living skills including meal preparation.
• Assist with medication administration.
• Provide guidance on developmental goals (community participation, budgeting, exercise, nutrition, vocational responsibilities).
• Support persons served with living skills such as personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, and toileting.
• Assist individuals to redirect agitated or aggressive behaviors.
