About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to work in their Group Homes as Direct Support Professionals/Overnight Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in meeting the personal health, safety, and welfare needs of the residents. The position involves assisting and/or supervising individuals in personal care, participating in household tasks like cleaning and cooking, and supporting life skills development. A key responsibility includes medication administration. Effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and residents is essential. The role also requires driving residents to and from programs and community activities using agency vehicles, and daily documentation of services provided. The position offers opportunities to assist with community-based activities.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
Successful completion/passing of criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test.

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills development.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services provided.
Assist with community-based activities.
