About The Position

Burton Center is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join their team. This role is crucial in fulfilling the Burton Center's mission to develop and discover unlimited potential in adults with disabilities and special needs. DSPs will provide coaching, training, community advocacy, verbal prompts, and hands-on support to promote the highest quality of life for individuals. This is a third shift position, Monday-Friday from 11:45 pm to 7:45 am, totaling 40 hours per week, and is part of the Community Training Home Program (CTH). In this role, you will be responsible for creating the best quality of life for up to 4 adults with disabilities and special needs living in a CTH. This involves implementing person-centered support, effective training programs, encouraging independence and community engagement, and providing direct care for self-help skills and personal hygiene. The role includes assisting with toileting, bathing, medication administration, and feeding assistance. You will also prepare light meals, follow behavioral support plans, and participate in planned outings and activities. A Chromebook will be provided for tracking individual objectives and completing progress reports via the Therap system. Comprehensive in-person and on-the-job training will cover driving Burton Center vehicles, operating wheelchair lifts, using therapeutic options, and obtaining Basic Life Support and MedTech certifications.

Requirements

  • SC Driver's License
  • Ability to lift or maneuver up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to be adaptive, a team player, and advocate for others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must complete a mandatory in-person orientation, MedTech, and all assigned online training prior to on-the-job training.

Responsibilities
