About The Position

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building independence, engaging with their communities, and achieving meaningful personal outcomes. DSPs make a lasting difference every day through encouragement, mentorship, and person-centered support. ARC Voyagers is a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Central Ohio. We offer a range of person-centered services including employment coaching, life skills development, employment placement, adult day resource centers, and community-based day programming. Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Positive, patient, and compassionate attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while remaining professional and organized
  • Passion for helping individuals achieve personal goals and community inclusion
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Must submit to a BCII/FBI background check and Nurses Aid & Abuser Registry checks.
  • Maintain American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and insurability standards.
  • Complete eight hours of training as required by The Ohio Department of Developmental upon hire.
  • Must pass a physical and drug screen

  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist participants in exploring educational, recreational, social, and vocational opportunities while encouraging community involvement and volunteer activities.
  • Help participants with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and health maintenance while promoting dignity and self-advocacy.
  • Support participants in developing new hard and soft skills across a variety of settings while contributing to Person-Centered Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
  • Safely transport participants to activities, appointments, and community-based opportunities as needed.
  • Document services provided and maintain compliance with CMS, DODD, OOD, CARF, and other applicable regulations and standards.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment while adhering to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Protect the rights, dignity, and individuality of every person served through compassionate, person-centered care.
