The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You’ll support daily living activities, community engagement, and personal development, while advocating for individual choice and dignity. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to safely perform one-person physical transfers required.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License required.
- Required clearances: Act 33 (Child Abuse), Act 34 (Criminal Record), and FBI Background Check.
- Must obtain CPR certification within six (6) months of start date and complete all training requirements associated with the Direct Support Professional position.
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year of related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supports individuals in leading meaningful lives through community and personal engagement.
- Assists with personal care tasks, including bathing, laundry, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Promotes independence through support with budgeting, home management, and daily living skills.
- Accompanies individuals to appointments, recreational activities, and community events.
- Documents individual progress, successes, and concerns in accordance with program standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
