About The Position
Morrison Center is seeking a Per Diem Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support children and adults with developmental disabilities in Scarborough, Gray, and Wells, Maine. The DSP will assist clients in maintaining, obtaining, and managing their goals, including transporting them into the community, providing personal care, and completing daily documentation. A strong understanding of community supports is essential. Morrison Center is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, individualized support services.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED Required
- DSP Certification preferred but will train the right candidate
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Safety training such as Mandt, Safety Care, etc.
- Prior experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Valid Maine Driver’s license required and a clean driving record
- Experienced with transfers in and out of wheelchair, using a lift, and is comfortable working in someone’s private home with the Shared Living DSP who resides there as well.
Responsibilities
- Transport clients out into the community
- Provide personal care, showers, toileting, dressing etc.
- Support clients to help them reach and maintain plan of care goals and activities
- Have a good understanding of what community supports is
- Give hands-on and eyes-on care and support for clients
