About The Position

Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Residential Services Full-Time & Part-Time Positions Available Support Independence. Build Relationships. Make a Difference. UCP of Eastern Connecticut is looking for caring and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our Residential Services team. You will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in their own apartments, supporting each person to live as independently as possible, participate in their community, maintain relationships, and pursue the things that are important to them.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Current CPR and First Aid certification
PMT certification
Current driver's license, auto insurance, and a clean driving record
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Nice To Haves

Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is helpful, but training is provided.
Medication Administration Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Support individuals with daily living skills and household routines
Encourage independence, choice, and self-direction
Support community activities, appointments, errands, and social opportunities
Assist with meal planning, shopping, and other household activities
Help individuals develop and maintain skills that increase independence
Follow individualized service plans and document services provided
Communicate with individuals, families, team members, and other professionals
Promote health, safety, dignity, and community inclusion
Use assistive technology and other supports that promote independence and safety
Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development
