FT Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Join the Virginia Beach team near Indian River and Military Highway as a full-time Direct Support Professional supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Help people build independence, reach their goals, and participate in community activities such as concerts, amusement parks, and other outings. The role offers paid training and career advancement opportunities through the Career Pathways Program. Shift options include Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts are also described as available. The stated pay range is $17.36–$23.36 per hour, with holiday pay and paid training.
Requirements
- Positive attitude and dependability.
- Weekend availability.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Satisfactory criminal background check.
- Ability to assist individuals with activities of daily living.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and exercise good judgment.
- Complete paid training in CPR/First Aid, Medication Aide Training, DBHDS DSP Orientation, and Mandt Certification.
Nice To Haves
- Experience through education or work history demonstrating reliability and dependability.
- Ability to satisfactorily complete Medication Certification, Medicaid Waiver Certification, First Aid/CPR, Mandt, and other orientation requirements.
- Skill in locating and accessing community resources.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities in building independence and reaching their goals.
- Accompany and support individuals during community outings and activities.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living.
- Complete medication-related and other required training and certifications.
