The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc. The DSP may also assist them with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and adhering to medical guidelines.
Requirements
- Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
- Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
- Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team
- Must be 21+ with reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possess the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job
- Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported (may include holidays, overnights, or double shifts)

- Safely evacuating individuals from the home in the event of an emergency

- Handling job related duties in compliance with Agency policies
- Following all DDS regulations/policies
