About The Position

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Atlanta, GA | Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Support Independence. Build Meaningful Lives. Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta (JF&CS) is seeking compassionate, reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living safe, independent, and meaningful lives. With a 125-year history of serving individuals and families of all faiths, JF&CS is a trusted community resource. Our DSPs play a critical, hands-on role in empowering individuals to grow, connect, and thrive in their daily lives. The north star for this role is simple: help individuals live as independently as possible while ensuring safety, dignity, and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Basic computer and communication skills
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license, insured vehicle, and reliable transportation
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting and active support
  • Access to a working cell phone and email
  • Compassionate, patient, and people-centered
  • Reliable and accountable with strong follow-through
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • A strong communicator who can build trust with individuals and families
  • Willing to learn, grow, and be part of a mission-driven team

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support with daily living skills including hygiene, nutrition, communication, and home management
  • Promote independence, choice, and dignity in all activities
  • Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Individual Support Plans (ISP)
  • Ensure individuals follow medication schedules and attend medical appointments
  • Monitor health, safety, and overall wellbeing
  • Provide transportation to appointments, errands, and community activities
  • Support participation in social, recreational, and community-based activities
  • Build positive relationships with families, support teams, and external partners
  • Encourage social, emotional, and personal development
  • Maintain accurate documentation and required reporting
  • Assist with ISP and Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) implementation and updates
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding progress and concerns
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and house meetings
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure high-quality care and consistency
