About The Position

AHRC New York City is holding a HIRING EVENT for Full -Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for their STATEN ISLAND Group home residences. The role involves supporting neurodivergent children and adults with a broad spectrum of services. This position offers the reward of helping others, building relationships, and improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. It provides hands-on work experience and flexible scheduling options.

Requirements

• Professionalism; integrity; excellent communication skills.
• Patience is a MUST!
• Willingness to support people's preferences for community, activities, work, leisure activities, the exercise of their rights etc. in various settings.
• Ability to use a computer for data entry.
• Drivers License Required (for evening shift positions).

Nice To Haves

• Personal or Professional experience supporting People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred.
• High school education/GED, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• The oversight of all safety and health considerations
• Promoting skill development, interests, and hobbies
• Assisting with Adult Daily Living skills (ADLs)
• Other personalized responsibilities including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, etc.
