About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to join their team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) / Residential Counselors. DPD is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. As a DSP, you will be responsible for assisting residents in group homes with their personal health, safety, and welfare. This includes helping with personal care, participating in household tasks, administering medication, communicating with staff and residents, driving residents to appointments and community activities, and documenting services provided. The role also involves assisting with fun community-based activities.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
Successful completion/passing of criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test.
Must attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined and announced in advance).

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate in and/or supervise cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside, and within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services provided.
Assist with community-based activities.
