About The Position

The mission of MVLE is to create futures one person at a time for people with disabilities and other barriers through employment and support services. MVLE is about working with purpose to employ and support people living with disabilities. Since 1971, MVLE has successfully provided a broad range of services that cater to the diverse needs of individuals through specialized training and services to foster their personal and professional growth. MVLE provides opportunities for people with disabilities to find their independence through community-based social activities, supported employment and customized skills training. Together, we work to accomplish these goals by utilizing an extensive network of partners and cultivating relationships with government and affiliate agencies.

Requirements

Associate's degree in human services, Behavior Management, Psychology or related field OR equivalent experience
1 year or more of experience working with people with disabilities in a vocational or residential setting is strongly preferred. Customer service experience is acceptable as an alternative
Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications
The skill to interpret and apply curriculum to effectively support individual learning
Strong communication skills and the ability to network with community members
A valid driver's license (required)

Responsibilities

Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and counseling to people with disabilities in the areas of appropriate work attitudes, employability, work skills specific to individuals' employment, social and communication skills, use of adaptive equipment, and positive behavioral change in consultation with team members. This may be done in person, via virtual learning, and by teaching employment readiness-type classes in person.
Utilize positive behavior management techniques in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia guidelines and MANDT behavior protocol.
Ensure all individuals receive the required training to enable them to meet their maximum potential.
Help train newly enrolled individuals by assisting with the transition process.
Assist in developing creative methods and techniques that foster a learning environment that nurtures work, social and community skills.
Assist with the development and utilization of virtual learning.
Assist with individuals' personal needs as needed.
Perform mobility training/transport for individuals as needed.
Train, monitor, and support a group of individuals in the Employment Services or Group Day programs.
Complete required reporting documents.
Assist in auditing sites for regulatory, procedural, and policy compliance.
Familiarize yourself with and exercise the applicable personnel practices and policies of the work site, including OSHA standards and uniforms.
Complete all required training to maintain licensing requirements and participate in training to develop professional skills as needed and requested.
Establish and maintain good communication with parents, guardians, residential counselors, and other professionals regarding the individuals' overall progress.
Coordinate the schedule for individual group training and community access outings.
