About The Position

Empowered Services provides one-on-one, in-home and community-based support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) deliver person-centered care that promotes independence, builds Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and supports meaningful community engagement. This entry-level Community Support Specialist (Direct Support Professional / DSP / Caregiver) role provides part-time, one-on-one support in the Dayton, OR area. It is suitable for someone reliable, patient, and comfortable providing structure while encouraging independence and positive routines in both home and community settings. The role involves supporting an adult who enjoys staying active and involved in the community, particularly through Special Olympics basketball and bowling. Key support needs include maintaining consistent routines and expectations, assistance with transportation and community participation, support with daily living skills and responsibilities, and guidance around social boundaries and independence. This position offers an opportunity to provide calm, structured support while building confidence and life skills.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance
  • Ability to pass a background check (not all records disqualify)
  • Comfortable supporting personal care (ADLs)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in caregiving, DSP, or community support roles
  • Experience supporting individuals with IDD / developmental disabilities
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide ADL support (Activities of Daily Living) including hygiene, routines, and household tasks
  • Assist with transportation to practices, appointments, and community outings
  • Support community-based activities such as sports, events, and social engagement
  • Encourage independence, routine-building, and life skill development
  • Provide behavioral support and clear, consistent boundaries
  • Assist with light cleaning and home organization
  • Maintain professional communication and accurate documentation
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and structured environment
