About The Position

Turning Leaf Agency Corporation is a DDS private provider, providing continuous residential support and In-home support to individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges in Eastern Connecticut of all ages and abilities. Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Group Home Setting Pay: $18.00 – $18.50 per hour Position Overview Turning Leaf Agency is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential group home setting. We are currently hiring for: Full-Time Part-Time Per Diem All Shifts Available (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Weekends) DSPs provide daily support to individuals in the home, community, and program settings while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and safety.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License required
  • Must be insurable through the agency’s insurance carrier
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and screenings
  • Must be able to obtain DDS Medication Certification within the first three months of employment
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, and assist individuals as needed
  • Ability to safely operate agency vehicles
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals based on their individualized needs and goals
  • Assist individuals with daily living skills, community activities, recreational opportunities, and social development
  • Promote independence while maintaining a safe and supportive environment
  • Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and professionalism
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and complete required reports accurately and timely
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, residential staff, guardians, medical professionals, and team members
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals served
  • Assist with transportation to appointments, activities, and community outings
  • Perform light housekeeping and help maintain cleanliness of the home, vehicles, and equipment
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, including medical or behavioral situations
  • Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and agency events
  • Follow all agency policies, DDS regulations, and safety procedures
