About The Position

Direct Support Professional - Community/Client Home Based Services Seeking employment that makes a difference in the lives of others? Become a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities meet their personal goals. The DSP works in the individual's home and/or in a community setting, providing care according to the specific needs and goals of the individuals. This role involves supporting a college student with interests in chess, video games, and bike riding. Activities may include walking the client's dog, getting food, and assisting with physical therapy. Our motto is "Creating life skills with those we serve." Requirements

• High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school.
• Valid NC Driver's license and acceptable Driving Record.
• Criminal Record Check.
• Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
• Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.
• Ability to remain on one's feet most of the time.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.
• Prompt and regular attendance.
• Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
• Ability to meet client-specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to a cool college student who likes goofing around and hanging out downtown.
• Walking his dog, eating Duck Doughnuts, and assisting with physical therapy exercises.
• Assisting with ambulation, eating/drinking, and personal care
• Providing transport and companionship out in the community
• Doing leisure activities together
• Supporting him in achieving his personal goals
