About The Position

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for assisting and monitoring clients in various aspects of daily living. This includes personal care such as dressing, bathing, and toileting, as well as mealtime assistance to ensure family-style dining. The role also involves supporting clients with housekeeping duties, meal preparation, and the administration of prescribed medication and diets. Key responsibilities include implementing behavior programs, collecting data, and ensuring client safety. The professional will also assist clients with active treatment plans, record data, and work towards service goals. Participation in an interdisciplinary team, communication with supervisory staff, and transporting clients in company vehicles for community outings, school, and day program activities are also part of the role. Continuous professional development through scheduled staff development classes and competency testing is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • NC Driver's License
  • 21 years of age or older
  • No experience required

Responsibilities

  • Assist and monitor clients while dressing, bathing, toileting, and in all other aspects of self-care.
  • Assist and monitor clients during meals to ensure utilization of family style dining.
  • Assist and monitor clients in all aspects of housekeeping responsibilities (Clothing care, house cleaning, and yard care).
  • Assist and monitor clients in preparing meals and nutritional supplements.
  • Assist and monitor clients in the administration of prescribed medication without error.
  • Assist and monitor clients in the implementation of prescribed diet orders and utilization of adaptive equipment
  • Implement and follow all established behavior programs, data collection, and established safety procedures.
  • Assist and monitor clients in appropriate active treatment including training objective plans, recording data, and implementing service goals.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team and to communicate appropriate clients information as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Transport and monitor clients on Company vehicles as directed.
  • Assist and monitor clients during community outings.
  • Assist and monitor clients during participation at school and day program activities.
  • Attend staff development classes as scheduled and successfully complete test required competency testing (MANDT, CPR, First Aid, Safe Van Driving, Promotion of Consumer Well Being, Cultural Competency and Medication Administration).
  • Complete all tasks assigned by managers.
