About The Position
Merakey is hiring Direct Support Professionals in Pittsburgh, PA. This role is within the IDD Division and is ideal for mission-driven, compassionate, and reliable individuals. Merakey is a leading non-profit provider of developmental and behavioral health services. No experience is required as paid training is provided. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will work alongside a passionate team to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will help them build independence, develop social and communication skills, and navigate daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, and community engagement. This role involves making memories through activities like trips to the park and sensory gardens, and assisting individuals in achieving their personal goals. The DSP acts as a mentor, coach, and advocate.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a desire to help others reach their fullest potential.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a home health aide setting, or school setting working with people who have Intellectual and Developmental disabilities is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation
- Support life skills development, including household tasks and social skills
- Provide community support, transportation
- Promote health, safety, and well-being, including medication support (as trained)
- Complete required documentation, progress notes, and service logs
