Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join their team at their program in Chico, CA. DSPs interact with and support individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings, including community, family homes, and generic community settings. The role involves providing care that enhances the health, safety, dignity, and contentment of consumers by assisting and training them in personal care, communication, and social skill development. This position specifically offers direct support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who have co-occurring medical support needs in a residential setting.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) preferred, especially personal hygiene, grooming, and bathing
- Prior experience in a caregiving, personal care assistant, or home health aide role is a PLUS!
Responsibilities
- Interact and support individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of potential settings including community, family or individual homes and generic community settings.
- Provide a level of care that enhances the health, safety, dignity and contentment of every consumer served by assisting and training individuals in the areas of personal care, communication, and social skill development.
- Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities with co-occurring medical support needs in a residential setting.
