About The Position

At Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH), the mission is to empower individuals and strengthen communities. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a critical role in helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals. This role involves providing care in the individual's home and community. Requirements

  • Entry-level experience (on-the-job training is provided)
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Basic housekeeping knowledge
  • Basic nutrition knowledge
  • Safety protocols knowledge
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Dependability
  • Proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
  • Reliable transportation
  • Driver’s license
  • Current auto insurance

Responsibilities

  • Help people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals
  • Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in
  • Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning
  • Assist with personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers
  • Provide employment support
  • Transport the client to appointments and run errands
  • Help plan and organize their schedule
  • Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record
