About The Position
1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed – Inner city of Syracuse (DJ– WG) 64 male, inner city of Syracuse is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist Teach skills for independent living, Teach positive communication skills, Teach money management skills and Teach skills for independent living; Com-Hab would like to work with Wilferd to help him create a grocery list for when he goes out into the community to shop. He enjoys attending church and going to the library. When it is nice out, he likes to go for walks and spend most of his time outside. The ideal candidate is required to have patience, as this person has a hard time remembering things. The ideal candidate should be good at reminding him and calling ahead of schedule outings to make sure he is prepared. The ideal candidate should also be good at facilitating conversations when needed due to his memory loss he sometimes needs help with piecing together his thoughts verbally. This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency. Start time and hours are flexible, up to 30 hours a week.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work independently in the person’s home and/or community
- Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
- New York State Driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Proof of auto insurance
- Acceptable driving record
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community
- Flexibility with assignments and schedule
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy
