About The Position

Advocates is seeking a dynamic and empathetic Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to collaborate with a talented young woman in Liverpool, NY. This role involves assisting her in navigating technology, exploring interests like selling artwork online, and starting a social media page. You will also support her in enhancing organizational abilities by helping her create systems for paperwork, managing her schedule, making appointments, and organizing her home. The ideal candidate will possess strong technology skills, effective communication and leadership abilities, patience, and a solid organizational background. Experience in roles requiring computer and organizational skills (e.g., management, teaching, office work) is a plus. Candidates must be detail-oriented, especially when logging time, mileage, and service documentation electronically. Internet access and a valid email address are required.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid email address.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.
  • Must demonstrate sound decision-making skills.
  • Must demonstrate understanding for the Agency mission.

  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including sitting, standing, using hands to reach, walk, push, or lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the individual in navigating technology.
  • Support the exploration of interests, such as selling artwork online.
  • Help the individual start a social media page.
  • Enhance organizational abilities by creating systems for paperwork.
  • Enter the individual's schedule of appointments and activities into her calendar.
  • Assist with navigating important phone conversations, including making appointments.
  • Organize various areas of the individual's home.
  • Electronically log each day's time, mileage, and service documentation.
