About The Position

The NBHS Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in providing compassionate and individualized care to individuals with developmental disabilities or other support needs. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for those served by promoting independence, dignity, and community integration. The professional will work closely with clients to assist with daily living activities, skill development, and social engagement, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Collaboration with families, healthcare providers, and multidisciplinary teams is essential to create and implement personalized support plans. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as required by state regulations.
• Basic knowledge of developmental disabilities and experience in a caregiving or support role.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) or equivalent.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
• Training in CPR, first aid, and medication administration.
• Familiarity with person-centered planning and community integration strategies.
• Additional language skills to support diverse client populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility support.
• Implement individualized support plans by facilitating skill-building activities and encouraging community participation.
• Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in health or well-being, reporting concerns promptly to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
• Provide emotional support and foster positive relationships to promote social interaction and personal growth.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment by adhering to health and safety protocols and responding appropriately to emergencies.
