About The Position

Embark at Hurricane – Stabilization and Assessment is hiring Behavioral Health Associates (Mentor) to support adolescent boys (ages 12–17) in a residential setting. You’ll help clients with daily routines, emotional regulation, life skills, safety, and structured programming, while working alongside therapists and nurses to ensure treatment goals are met. Our program provides a home-like environment for highly acute teens and their families, focusing on stabilization, assessment, and family-centered healing.

Requirements

• Comfortable managing verbal/physical outbursts and emotional dysregulation in a residential setting.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and set firm, healthy boundaries.
• Willingness to learn and grow; candidates with strong boundary-setting and passion for adolescent mental health are encouraged to apply, even without direct experience!
• 21+ years of age or older
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen
• Able to pass criminal investigation background check
• Current driver's license
• Ability to learn CPR and First-Aid.

Nice To Haves

• Background working with adolescents in behavioral health, residential, or crisis environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students in following structured schedules and activities with encouragement and accountability.
• Use verbal de-escalation techniques to manage emotional or behavioral escalations; apply approved physical interventions (holds/restraints) when clinically necessary to ensure safety.
• Apply proactive strategies to reduce risk and provide crisis management when necessary.
• Ensure student progress aligns with individualized treatment plans developed by therapists.
• Model constructive behaviors and attitudes, reinforcing a healthy environment for clients.
• Maintain consistent, thorough records of client interactions, incidents, and progress.
• Participate in staff and house bonding activities to foster teamwork and community cohesion.
• Perform light daily tasks to maintain a clean, organized living space.
