About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to work in their Group Homes as Direct Support Professionals/Overnight Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in assisting and supervising individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in meeting their personal health, safety, and welfare needs. Responsibilities include aiding with personal care, participating in daily living activities like cleaning and cooking, administering or assisting with medication, and driving residents to various appointments and activities within the community using agency vehicles. Effective communication with supervisors, coworkers, and residents is essential, as is daily documentation of services provided. The position also involves assisting residents with community-based activities.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
Successful completion/passing of criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test.

Nice To Haves

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate in and/or supervise cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services provided.
Assist with community-based activities.
