About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Direct Support Professional to support an 18-year-old individual in the Canastota area. This role focuses on enhancing social skills and communication skills. This individual has a passion for Hot Wheels and loves playing outdoors, cherishing moments with his family. He enjoys singing, taking walks, and has a deep appreciation for animals. His interest also includes policemen, cars, fire trucks, and anything featuring red sirens. When at home, he particularly enjoys watching the show Cops. The ideal candidate is Patient, understanding, and has a creative approach to teaching life skills. This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Effective communication and organizational skills required.
• Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
• Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by ARISE/EFR'S technology policy.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in social skills training and communication is a plus.
• Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enhancing social skills and communication skills for an 18-year-old individual.
• Engaging with the individual in activities such as playing outdoors, singing, taking walks.
• Supporting the individual's interests including Hot Wheels, animals, policemen, cars, fire trucks, and sirens.
• Facilitating the use of technology for community-based apps.
• Providing support to other individuals receiving services at the agency if additional hours are desired.
