About The Position

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Location: Vermont Pay: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience) Schedule: Full-time, Part-time, and Per Diem opportunities available Position Overview ATC Healthcare is seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. DSPs play a vital role in helping individuals live as independently as possible while promoting dignity, safety, and community inclusion. This position requires transporting individuals to appointments, community outings, and other activities; therefore, candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to pass all required background screenings.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Clean driving record with an acceptable motor vehicle report (MVR) required.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred but not required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support based on each individual's care plan.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation.
  • Support individuals with medication reminders or medication administration, as permitted by state regulations and employer policy.
  • Encourage independence, life skills, and participation in community activities.
  • Transport individuals safely to appointments, recreational activities, work programs, and other scheduled outings.
  • Document services provided and accurately complete required reports.
  • Monitor for changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral health and communicate concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
