About The Position

This position involves providing support to an individual in the Baldwinsville, NY area. The individual is a nice, laid-back man who enjoys hobbies, watching TV, and airplanes. He is seeking a mentor to help him pursue his interests, improve his independent living skills (cooking, cleaning, errands, managing bills and appointments), and encourage him to be more active at the YMCA. The mentor will assist with healthy food choices, workout tips, meal prepping, and maintaining apartment cleanliness.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Effective communication and organizational skills required.
• Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
• Reliable transportation to arrive at the job site at the scheduled time.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by ARISE/EFR'S technology policy.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a hobby or interest with the individual.
• Assist with independent living skills including cooking, cleaning, running errands, and managing bills and appointments.
• Help the individual make healthy food choices and provide workout tips.
• Encourage and motivate the individual to stay active in the gym.
• Assist with cooking and meal prepping for the week.
• Help maintain cleanliness in the individual's apartment.
• Utilize technology (apps) for community-based activities and adhere to technology policies.
