About The Position

AHRC New York City is holding a HIRING EVENT for Full -Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for their STATEN ISLAND Group home residences. The role involves supporting neurodivergent children and adults through a broad spectrum of services. The ideal candidate will be patient, professional, and possess excellent communication skills, with a willingness to support individuals' preferences in various settings. Responsibilities include overseeing safety and health, promoting skill development, assisting with daily living skills, and other personalized tasks such as cooking and cleaning.

Requirements

• Drivers License Required (for 40hr Evening Shifts)
• Weekend availability needed for most positions!
• Professionalism; integrity; excellent communication skills.
• Patience is a MUST!
• Willingness to support people's preferences for community, activities, work, leisure activities, the exercise of their rights etc. in various settings.
• Ability to use a computer for data entry.
• High school education/GED, highly preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Personal or Professional experience supporting People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred.

Responsibilities

• The oversight of all safety and health considerations.
• Promoting skill development, interests, and hobbies.
• Assisting with Adult Daily Living skills (ADLs)
• Other personalized responsibilities including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, etc.
