The Arc Eastern Connecticut has been providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 60 years, championing full community inclusion. This role involves facilitating, modeling, and building skills to promote optimal independence for the people supported. Responsibilities include delivering training and assistance in personal care, recreation, daily living skills, social skills, health needs, community integration, and behavior management. Direct Support Professionals participate in individualized support plans, administer medications, complete required documentation, ensure participant health and safety (including CPR, First Aid, Heimlich, and evacuation procedures), provide transportation, and prepare meals. The position requires a positive work ethic, ability to work with limited supervision, advocacy for participants' rights, and maintaining a mature and positive attitude with all stakeholders.
