About The Position

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is hiring Part-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and mental health needs in our Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), Waiver, and Day Support programs. As a DSP, you'll provide person-centered direct care while helping individuals strengthen daily living skills, increase independence, participate in their communities, and work toward personal goals.

Requirements

• One year of direct care experience working with adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, or experience working in an Intermediate Care Facility (for ICF settings).
• One year of direct care experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental illness (for Waiver & Day Support settings).
• Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on direct care and support based on each individual's needs and service plan.
• Responsibilities may include personal care, hygiene, activities of daily living, meal preparation, medication support, household routines, community outings, recreational activities, and skill development.
• In our Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) settings, DSPs may provide total-care assistance, including using a Hoyer lift for safe transfers and mobility support.
• Encourage independence and choice, monitor individuals' health and well-being, report changes as needed, complete accurate documentation, and work with team members to maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.

• Shift Differential: Earn an additional $2.50 per hour for eligible evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
