Requirements

  • Solid understanding of supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
  • Keen awareness of health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Familiarity with personal care and daily living assistance.
  • Grasp of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Communication skills: active listening, clear speaking, and accurate documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and positive relationships.
  • Ability to solve problems calmly and adapt to surprises.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Capability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Physical ability to assist with daily activities.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and person-centered supports.
  • General knowledge of community resources and activities.
  • Patience.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Ability to assist with occasional lifting/mobility support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and encouragement to individuals.

  • Assist with making dinner together.

  • Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Ensure health, safety, and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Provide personal care and daily living assistance.

  • Communicate effectively, including active listening, clear speaking, and accurate documentation.
  • Build trust and positive relationships.

  • Balance multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
