About The Position
ARISE is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide Respite services to a young school aged girl in the Oswego, NY area. We are looking for a patient, kind, and reliable individual to support her and give her family a well-deserved respite. This young girl is loving and friendly. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing with toys, playing on her IPAD, swimming, drawing and painting. She is learning to communicate verbally. She has limited vocabulary and utilizes hand gestures to help her make her needs and wants known. At times she can become frustrated when trying to communicate. Some behavioral redirection may be needed at times. Prior experience a plus but not required- Guidance on activities and training will be provided by the family in conjunction with the agency supervisor.
Requirements
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Effective communication and organizational skills required
- Flexibility with assignments and schedule required
- Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by ARISE/EFR'S technology policy
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience a plus but not required
- Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred
