About The Position
A 32-year-old female is looking for a mentor to help her explore her community, engage in volunteering activities, exercise and learn money management. She enjoys going to the YMCA, shopping at the thrift and discount stores, utilizing the local library, and visiting local parks. She may be open to volunteering. The ideal candidate is creative and engaging, active, and patient, and willing to travel to different locations. The ideal candidate would also need coach individual through situations that she feels are stressful and encourage her to take advantage of all that is offered while on outings. This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to work independently in the person’s home and/or community.
- Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills.
- New York State Driver's license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Proof of auto insurance.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
- Effective communication and organizational skills required.
- Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
- Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by ARISE/EFR'S technology policy.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
- Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
Responsibilities
- Mentor an individual to help her explore her community.
- Engage in volunteering activities with the individual.
- Assist with exercise routines.
- Teach money management skills.
- Accompany the individual to the YMCA, thrift and discount stores, the local library, and local parks.
- Coach the individual through stressful situations.
- Encourage the individual to take advantage of opportunities during outings.
