About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to work in their Group Homes as Direct Support Professionals/Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in helping to meet the personal health, safety, and welfare needs of the individuals living in the group home. The position involves assisting and/or supervising residents in personal care, participating in household tasks like cleaning and cooking, and supporting life skills development. A key responsibility includes medication administration and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and residents. Additionally, the role requires driving residents to and from programs and community activities using agency vehicles, and daily documentation of services provided. The job also involves assisting with community-based activities.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
Must attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined and announced in advance).

Nice To Haves

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas (bathing/toileting).
Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and the individuals living in the homes.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services provided.
Assist with community-based activities.
