About The Position

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role involves assisting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their daily care. Responsibilities include helping with activities of daily living, maintaining a healthy living environment, and strengthening daily living needs such as nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, community integration, and socialization skills. The professional will assist individuals with bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation, always working to improve self-reliance. Other duties include setting individual goals, tracking client progress, reporting changes to superiors, making phone calls, and driving individuals to appointments, meetings, and events. The role also involves encouraging skill development, fostering community integration, developing meaningful relationships with clients, following health and safety protocols, and helping maintain a clean home. The professional is expected to attend continuing education courses, complete assigned trainings, and obtain additional certifications as required. This position calls for a compassionate, patient, and encouraging caregiver, cheerleader, and advocate.

Requirements

  • 3 years of Previous experience in caregiving, personal care or other related fields
  • A compassionate and caring demeanor
  • Ability to build rapport with clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license / Reliable transportation to work
  • Adult First Aid & CPR/AED certification
  • CMT
  • DDA
  • MANDT
  • Can Pass a state background check (dependent on state requirements)

Responsibilities

  • Assist our individuals with activities of daily living
  • Maintain a healthy and comfortable living environment
  • Assist with and work to strengthen the individuals’ many daily living needs, including but not limited to: nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, community integration, and socialization skills
  • Help individuals to bathe, groom and dress, eat meal prep if necessary, always working to improve self-reliance
  • Help set individual goals and track client progress, noting any drastic changes; report findings to superiors
  • Make phone calls and drive the individuals we serve to appointments, meetings, events, etc.
  • Encourage individual skill development and work toward community integration
  • Develop meaningful relationships and connections with your clients to make them feel cared for and included in the community
  • Follow all health and safety protocols
  • Help with clean and tidy home for the individuals
  • Attend continuing education courses, complete assigned trainings, and obtain additional certifications as the job requires
  • Be a compassionate, patient, and encouraging direct support professional at all times; you are a caregiver, cheerleader, and advocate rolled into one, and your work can change the lives of many for the better
