About The Position

QSAC is a nonprofit organization in New York City and Long Island dedicated to supporting children and adults with autism and their families. The organization aims to help individuals achieve greater independence, realize their potential, and contribute meaningfully to their communities through person-centered services. The Habilitation Specialist (DSP) role involves assisting individuals by following established treatment plans, promoting independence through daily living and social skills development, and facilitating community integration via recreational outings. The position requires adherence to the Direct Support Professional Code of Ethics.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Valid New York State Drivers License and good driving record is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to run, when needed
  • Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights and 20 lb items

  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • Report problems and concerns to supervisors immediately.
