About The Position

Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Community-Based Day Supports (CBDS) $20 - $23/hour | Full-Time | Monday-Friday Make a Difference with KDC At Kennedy-Donovan Center (KDC), we're committed to empowering individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live meaningful, independent lives. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Community-Based Day Supports (CBDS) program, you'll provide hands-on, person-centered support that helps participants build life skills, foster independence, and actively engage in their communities. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities or in a similar human services role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships.
  • Ability to follow individualized plans and provide person-centered support.
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR/FA and SafetyCare certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals in daily activities that promote independence, skill development, and community inclusion.
  • Assist participants in achieving goals outlined in their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
  • Provide guidance and encouragement in developing communication, social, self-advocacy, and independent living skills.
  • Accompany participants on community outings and facilitate participation in recreational, volunteer, educational, and vocational activities.
  • Safely transport participants to and from the program site and community activities using agency vehicles or, when necessary, a personal vehicle in accordance with agency policy.
  • Provide personal care assistance, including mobility, hygiene, and activities of daily living, as needed.
  • Monitor participant health, behavior, and safety, reporting concerns or incidents promptly to the Program Team Lead.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including attendance records, daily progress notes, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with the Program Team Lead and interdisciplinary team members to provide consistent, high-quality services.
  • Maintain professional communication with participants, families, guardians, and community partners.
  • Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations.
