About The Position

Our organization believes that every person deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. This part-time evening position focuses on assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with daily routines, personal care, and community or program preparation in a respectful, person-centered manner. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live safe, meaningful, and independent lives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be an eligible driver for RRHSF (at least 25 years old, valid driver's license, & driven for 5+ years) and have a reliable, insured vehicle
  • Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and complete ongoing training requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate, respectful attitude.
  • Must also have every other weekend availability.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to follow care plans and agency policies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with evening routines including hygiene, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation in their homes.
  • Promote independence, dignity, and choice in all activities.
  • Provide transportation from day programs or community activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Support skill development, communication, and positive social interactions.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Supervisors, Program Coordinators, families, and team members.
