Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Village Behavioral Health (VBH) is looking for compassionate, reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) in our residential programs. VBH is a licensed behavioral health organization providing residential and crisis services throughout Virginia. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to pass background checks and screenings
Nice To Haves
- Experience in ID/DD, behavioral health, or human services preferred
Responsibilities
- Supporting daily living skills (hygiene, meals, housekeeping, medication routines)
- Teaching independence, communication, and life skills
- Assisting with community activities (shopping, events, appointments, recreation)
- Promoting a safe, structured, and supportive environment
- Monitoring health and behavioral changes and reporting concerns
- Completing accurate, timely documentation
