About The Position

Community Living Greater Sudbury is seeking energetic, motivated, and career-minded part-time awake night shift direct support professionals. The ideal support staff will be committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for individuals, utilizing Trauma-Informed, ABA-informed, and strengths-based approaches to promote independence, emotional regulation, and community engagement. You will be responsible for monitoring and supporting adults with developmental disabilities in accordance with the organization’s mission statement, ensuring a safe, clean, and secure environment, and assisting with meal preparation.

Requirements

  • Developmental Service Worker Diploma or related field of study
  • Valid First Aid, CPR certificate, and CPI training
  • G Class Driver's License
  • COVID19 Vaccination
  • Two Step TB Test

Nice To Haves

  • Class G Licence (Required)
  • Developmental services: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Covid 19 Vaccination (Preferred)
  • Bilingual in English/French preferred
  • ABA training is an asset
  • Experience with behaviours is an asset or related experience
  • Preference will be given to person with experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for individuals to set and reach personal goals.
  • Support individuals to participate in the community, including educational, recreational, and religious activities.
  • Assist individuals with personal care, as required, including medication administration, bathing, skin care, and personal hygiene.
  • Provide support to complete duties within the home, including maintaining a clean and safe environment and the preparation of nutritious meals.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of social and personal relationships.
  • Provide information to individuals to support the development of informed decision-making skills.
  • Complete computerized documentation, daily reporting, and medical follow-up, etc.
  • Promote the mission and values of the organization in the workplace and community.
  • Assist in implementing behavioural support plans and skill acquisition programs to reduce risk behavior.
  • Support individuals displaying risk behaviour while remaining calm and using Non-Violent Crisis Intervention strategies.
  • Advocate for and ensure participants’ rights, dignity, well-being, and protection from harm.
  • Completion and follow up of data collection and documentation, as required.
