About The Position

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities at Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh. As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll assist residents in their daily routines, help them build skills and relationships, pursue their personal goals, and participate in activities at home and throughout the community. No experience is required – we provide the training and support you need to feel confident in your role.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or higher education
Driver’s license
Act 34 and FBI clearances
Pre-employment physical and TB (Mantoux) test
A willingness to learn: experience not required; training provided

Responsibilities

Support residents with personal hygiene, assist with medical appointments, and administer medications.
Plan menus, shop for groceries, and prepare meals that meet residents’ dietary needs.
Help keep the home clean and well maintained and care for residents’ belongings.
Build respectful, meaningful relationships with residents and uphold the mission and values of Emmaus.
Provide residents with opportunities for social and recreational activities at home and in the community and participate in celebrations such as birthdays and holidays.
Help develop residents’ goals and outcomes and support their progress.
Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs) as written and complete required documentation.
Assist residents with money management and follow all policies for safeguarding resident and agency funds.
Conduct and document monthly fire drills and comply with all state- and county-mandated regulations.
Work collaboratively with the team under the Residential Advisor’s supervision and attend required staff meetings.
Cross-train at a minimum of one other Emmaus location.
