Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals to join its program in New Jersey. The role supports individuals in achieving their goals and building independence. Following each individual's Support Plan, DSPs work in a variety of settings and encourage, mentor, and coach individuals while supporting social and communication skills. They also teach daily living activities, including personal care, housekeeping, and laundry, and assist with daily and personal activities. Paid training is provided, and no experience is required to begin; the qualifications section separately lists one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities. The listed pay rate is $18.13 per hour, or $20.13 per hour with the selection of Enhanced Pay. Merakey is a nonprofit provider of developmental, behavioral health, and education services. It reports more than 8,000 employees supporting nearly 40,000 individuals and families across 12 states. Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a verifiable high school diploma or G.E.D.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- One year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Complete NADD DSP Certification training within the first year of employment.
