Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Beacon Specialized Living supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and autism to live independent and fulfilling lives in their communities. The Direct Support Professional supports individuals in a structured daytime setting by leading engaging activities, building skills, and promoting independence and community inclusion. The role includes supporting personal goals and daily living, safeguarding individuals' health and dignity, and providing assistance during program hours, transportation, and community outings. Training is provided for duties such as medication administration.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver's license.
- GED or high school diploma.
- Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Lead structured social, recreational, and community-based activities.
- Support individuals in building independence, social skills, and daily living skills.
- Implement individual service plans and support progress toward personal goals.
- Ensure the health, safety, and dignity of individuals during program hours, transportation, and community outings.
- Provide personal care and administer medications as needed.
- Promote inclusion and positive community engagement.
- Use crisis prevention and intervention strategies to support individuals safely.
- Complete required documentation, including daily logs and incident reports.
- Transport individuals and supervise activities in community settings.
- Prepare meals and maintain a clean, organized home environment.
