This role involves assisting individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities while upholding their personal rights. The Direct Support Professional provides emotional support, builds positive relationships, and helps individuals meet personal goals for a quality of life. This includes engaging in respectful communication, encouraging socialization, and facilitating community connections. The position requires constant supervision and protection of individuals, adherence to program guidelines, and training in fire safety. It also involves ensuring health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and adhering to policies and regulations. Support is provided in various settings according to individualized service and behavior support plans, utilizing support skills for people with varying needs and adhering to DDD Standards. The role ensures the implementation of person-centered plans, including Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), Staff Action and/or Life Plans. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment, utilizing safe handling procedures, and implementing infection control protocols are also key responsibilities. The role may involve assisting with personal care, ADLs, teaching skills, advocacy, communication support, meal preparation, transportation, escorting individuals, and managing personal allowance funds. Medication administration, inventory, and scheduling medical appointments are also part of the duties. The position requires operating agency vehicles, understanding specialized clinical knowledge for specific needs, implementing Behavior Support Plans, collecting and summarizing data on behavior, and reporting changes to the clinical team. Communication with circles of support, teamwork, and maintaining solution-oriented approaches are essential. The role involves completing and maintaining all necessary trainings and certifications, reviewing communication logs, and completing required paperwork and documentation accurately and within timeframes. Foundational teaching skills and person-centered thinking are utilized to support positive interactions. Reporting maintenance and safety concerns, consulting with leadership, and participating in team meetings are also required. The role may involve the development of treatment plans and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA. Performs all other duties, as assigned.
