About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the provision of overall support and care for individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. Those that Skill Creations Inc. Serves in this capacity are individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The DSP works in the day program or community providing one-to-one or group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan(s) of care. The Direct Support Professional may assist with personal care, behavioral support, medication administration, job coaching and assistance and/or independent living skills. Driving is required and driving a van or other vehicle may be required (standard class driver’s license required). The Direct Support Professional also provides educational opportunities in the areas of communication and recreation/leisure.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED from an accredited school.
Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule, including during inclement weather and some holidays.
Valid Driver's license and acceptable Driving Record.
Criminal Record Check.
Successful completion of coursework in CPR/First Aid, Behavior Management, and other staff education.
Basic computer skills for email, electronic training modules, and data recording.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to meet individual client specific needs.
