About The Position

Merakey is seeking compassionate, reliable, and mission-driven Direct Support Professionals to work in its IDD Division in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The role supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building independence, developing social and communication skills, and managing daily living activities. The counselor serves as a mentor, coach, and advocate, helping individuals pursue personal goals and take part in community activities. No experience is required, and paid training is provided.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a desire to help others reach their fullest potential.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Experience in a home health aide setting or a school setting working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Dual Diagnosis experience preferred.
• Community Participation Support certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support with activities of daily living.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation.
• Support life-skills development, including household tasks and social skills.
• Provide community support and transportation.
• Promote health, safety, and well-being, including medication support after training.
• Complete required documentation, progress notes, and service logs.
• Support individuals in developing independence and social and communication skills and achieving personal goals.
