About The Position

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide safe and appropriate care for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role involves supervising residents, meeting their physical, emotional, and personal needs, assisting with daily routines and hygiene tasks, and participating in community outings. The position offers opportunities for professional growth through in-service training and a career accelerator program called ASCEND, which covers tuition and offers student loan repayment. The Pocono Center specifically serves adults with developmental disabilities, focusing on promoting growth in functional skills, personal needs, communication, and personal adjustment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, or adults preferred
  • Empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative
  • Understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement
  • Represent yourself as a positive role model
  • Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs
  • Active C.N.A.
  • Active NADSP Level 1 Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and appropriate care for all Pocono Center residents
  • Be responsible for supervision of residents and seeing that their physical, emotional and personal needs are met
  • Assist in hygiene tasks such as showering or toileting
  • Support individuals throughout daily routine, including joining them in community outings
  • Attend in-service training programs to develop skills
  • Perform related duties, special assignments and projects as assigned by coordinator
